Courtney Carliss Young is a writer and entrepreneur based in both New York City and Southwest Louisiana. She is the founder of Think Young Media Group, a digital, creative agency with three arms: a.) creating & developing film, TV, & digital media projects, b.) consulting on film & documentary projects and 3.) a think tank/creative lab that collaborates and partners with individuals and companies on short term projects.
She is a Board member of the non-profit Hollaback, a movement to
end street harassment powered by a network of local activists around the world. She is the Board Lead and a co-founder of Heartmob, powered by Hollaback!, which is an online platform designed to decrease trauma and isolation for individuals who are experiencing sustained online harassment.
Courtney has written for publications which include The Nation, Ms. Magazine, and The American Prospect. In 2009, she was selected by the Women's Media Center as a recipient of the Progressive Women's Voices Fellowship. She is currently a summer fellow in The Coaching Fellowship. She received her B.A. in English and Management from Spelman College, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum laude. Soon thereafter, she received her M.A. from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
