Heidi Skolnik, MS, CDN, FACSM is the Sports Nutrition Consultant to the New York Giants football team and the School of American Ballet. She is also a nutritionist at The Women’s Sports Medicine Center at Hospital of Special Surgery. Heidi is a contributing editor to Men’s Health magazine where her column “ The Weight Loss Coach” can be read monthly and is co-author of The Reverse Diet: Lose Weight By Eating Dinner for Breakfast and Breakfast for Dinner (Wiley, Jan. 2007). Additionally, Ms. Skolnik worked with the Mets Baseball organization for 15 years and has worked individually with Nets Basketball players, Olympic level Judo players, professional cyclists, collegiate wrestlers, as well as athletes from numerous other sports and teams. Heidi has earned two Masters degrees and is a New York State Certified Nutritionist. Ms. Skolnik is a Fellow with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and is also ACSM certified as a Health Fitness Instructor. Ms. Skolnik is the president of Nutrition Conditioning, Inc. a nutrition consulting practice based in New Jersey serving the greater Metropolitan area.
Ms. Skolnik has seen a wide variety of clients and provides individual and group counseling in sports nutrition, health promotion/wellness, weight management, heart health and the benefits of exercise. Heidi consults and presents nationwide to corporations, professional organizations, universities and colleges. An expert resource for national media, Heidi has been referenced in newspapers and national magazines such as Men’s Health, Self, Glamour, G.Q. and Real Simple. She appears frequently on TV and has been seen on CNN American Morning and Headline News, The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Early Show, Primetime, 20/20, Extra as well as the TV Food Network.
Ms. Skolnik holds a Bachelor of Arts in Planned Studies: Holistic Health-Dance Therapy, Exercise and Nutrition from Ithaca College. She also holds a Masters of Science in Exercise Science from Ithaca College and a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from University of Bridgeport.
A realist, Heidi believes M&M’s can fit into a healthy eating style along with red peppers, red meat, broccoli, and fresh fruit. As a sports nutritionist, Heidi has made fitness a priority in her routine. She runs, bikes, hikes, tries different classes (spinning, kickboxing, etc) and strength trains regularly to maintain and achieve her fitness goals – which vary based on what is going on in the rest of her life.
