Kathleen Sweeney, a multimedia writer, artist and activist, explores the intersections of creativity, video, social media and social change. Founder/Director of The Viral Media Lab, and author of Maiden USA: Girl Icons Come of Age, she blogs and publishes articles on media, pop culture, and technology, with creative nonfiction at Cowbird. With an extensive international video art exhibition record, she has served as artist-in-residence at Reel Girls and Dia:Beacon, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council for the Arts, and was recently-awarded a six-week fellowship in social media at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts for Spring 2013. An Adjunct Professor at The New York School, New York, she has served on the Advisory Boards of GirlsWriteNow, Reel Grrls, Feminist.com, SheWrites. A consultant to artists and non-profits on storytelling DNA, she produces web docs, book trailers and social media campaigns for a variety of clients.
