Linda Lowen is a former broadcast journalist and talk show host who's won local and national awards as a producer of women's issues programming.

Lowen is currently the Women's Issues Guide for About.com, and is Google-ranked #1 under "women's issues." Owned by the New York Times Company, About.com is top ten rated among original content websites. For About.com, Lowen creates content that explores women's issues through the lens of popular culture, media and politics.

Over the past decade, Lowen has created, produced, and hosted women's issues radio and television programs for NPR and PBS station affiliates including the award-winning talk show "Women's Voices." She is a two-time recipient of the Clarion Award for Best Women's Issues Programming. Lowen is also a member of the Women's Media Center Progressive Women's Voices program and the National Cancer Survivor's Day Speaker's Bureau.

Formerly Assistant Director of Communications for the national office of Literacy Volunteers of America, Lowen also has extensive knowledge of the challenges faced by women with low-level literacy skills.

As a long-term survivor of ovarian cancer (14+ years) she has first-hand experience raising young children while battling cancer, and today volunteers for a national ovarian cancer hotline offering peer-to-peer support.

She has been featured in the New York Times on the subject of "chemo fog," a condition experienced by cancer survivors; interviewed by the San Francisco Chronicle on the growth of websites for women; and appeared as a guest on NPR's Talk of the Nation on the subject of parent-child interactions on the internet, focusing on netiquette and social networking on Facebook. Lowen is also commentator for 51% The Women's Perspective, a nationally-syndicated show heard on public broadcasting, ABC Radio Network, and Armed Forces Radio stations.

Lowen earned a full-tuition scholarship to a single-sex college where she graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in English. Her undergraduate studies included coursework in communications and broadcasting at Cornell University and graduate studies in communications design at Syracuse University.
