Sarah Holewinski is Executive Director of CIVIC (Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict), a group advocating for recognition and amends from warring parties to the civilians they've harmed in war. In her current role, she travels to conflict zones including Iraq, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, and Israel.

Holewinski was a member of The White House AIDS policy team throughout President Clinton’s second term and later joined West Wing Writers—a firm of former White House speechwriters. She has worked in India, in Rwanda with the William J. Clinton Foundation, and as a writer for Human Rights Watch. She also advanced the campaign of Senator Clinton and staffed the 2000/2004 Democratic Conventions.

She has published op-eds in the Washington Post, International Herald Tribune, and USA Today.

Holewinski is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

She received her B.A. from Georgetown University and a Masters in Security Policy at Columbia University's School of International Public Affairs.
