Stacy Bannerman, MS, author of When the War Came Home (2006) and Veterans Program Manager at ColumbiaCare Services, providing Veterans Supportive Housing and contracting with the VA for HUD-VASH Case Management in Washington and Oregon. Stacy is the wife and primary caregiver of an OIF wounded warrior, and a national leader on post-9/11 veterans and military families. She has testified before several U.S. Congressional committees, and singlehandedly secured the passage of two bills supporting military families in Oregon, H.B. 2744, and H.B. 3391, and the introduction of the federal Military Family Leave Act. Stacy received the Patriotic Employer Award and the Above & Beyond Award from the Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve.
Ms. Bannerman has served as the Executive Director of the Martin Luther King Jr. Outreach Center, Sanctuary One, and The Sanctuary for Veterans & Families. She worked for an alternative-to-sentencing agency in Minneapolis, MN, and was a support group facilitator for victims of domestic abuse in Mankato, MN.
Stacy has conducted over 500 multimedia interviews, including Hardball with Chris Matthews, BBC, Deborah Norville on MSNBC, NBC Nightly News, Army Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, and the Washington Post. She has written dozens of articles for The Progressive, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Tacoma News Tribune, The Women’s Media Center and many others.
Stacy received her M.S., Magna Cum Laude, from Minnesota State University, a B.A. in International Relations, and studied in the Doctoral program at Wisdom University.
