Experts North Korea, AR lethal injections, Gorsuch, Turkey referendum, and Earth Day

This week WMC SheSource features experts on the possibility of North Korea pursuing a nuclear weapons program, Arkansas fighting to legally execute eight inmates in the span of eleven days, Neil Gorsuch’s first cases on the Supreme Court, the Turkish referendum that will give Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan more powers, and Earth Day coming up this Saturday, April 22nd.

Following missile tests this weekend, Vice President Mike Pence has issued a warning to North Korea that the U.S. would take action if they continue to explore a nuclear weapons program. Arkansas is fighting to legally execute eight inmates in the span of 11 days because one of the key sedatives used in the lethal injections is expiring and the availability of a replacement is uncertain. The decision has raised ethical questions. To discuss this further, we FEATURE Diann Rust-Tierney. Diann is an expert in the movement to eliminate the death penalty in the U.S. In 2004 she became the Executive Director of the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (NCADP). Ms. Rust-Tierney manages and directs the program for the national organization and 100 affiliates seeking to change public policy on the death penalty. She serves as the national spokesperson for the organization and the movement to eliminate capital punishment.
