patricia (Tricia) degennaro is an adjunct assistant professor at New York University’s Center for Global Affairs where she teaches courses on US Foreign Policy, International Military Interventions, Civil-Military Affairs, National Security Policy, and the War on Terrorism.
In addition to her work as a professor, she is a Senior Fellow at the World Policy Institute and a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for the Study of Democracy, Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. Tricia has published several articles on US foreign policy and national security topics. Her focus is to encourage a holistic and integrated international policy that looks beyond war and the use of force.
Tricia capitalizes on over fifteen years of experience in a writer, independent analyst and consultant in international relations and economic development. Within the last year, she has spent a significant amount of time working in Afghanistan on provincial governance and capacity building, parliamentary reform and public policy development in the Office of the President of Afghanistan.
During her tenure, she has consulted with the Asia Foundation, Director of National Intelligence Office, Department of Homeland Security, The Conference Board, Fred Friendly Seminars, World Bank, Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee chaired by Senator Edward M. Kennedy, and several organizations that support the Middle East Peace Process. She also spent four years in Albania, initially as a Small and Medium Enterprise Consultant with the Peace Corps followed by a contract with the US Agency for International Development on Agra-business development. Regionally, Tricia continues to focus on the Balkans, the Middle East and South Asia where she travels often.
She has also been an expert source for CNN, CNN International, BBC News, Al Jazeera, PBS’s Worldfocus, PressTv’s Hearts & Minds, Lars Larson, Laura Flanders, Lorna Owens, Fox’s Hannity and Colmes and the O’Reilly Factor and NPR’s Leonard Lopate.
She was recently chosen by The Women’s Media Center (WMC) as one of 33 participants for the Progressive Women’s Voices program which provides media and spokesperson training to connect media professionals with smart, media-savvy women experts. Tricia is a regular columnist on the Huffington Post and writes often about the state of political and international affairs on her own site, www.triciastake.com.
Ms. degennaro holds an MPA in International Security and Conflict Resolution from Harvard University and an MBA in International Trade and Finance from George Washington University.
