Ms. Antenor is an experienced communicator, writer and journalist. She has enjoyed an impressive career, which combines academia, print journalism, video and radio broadcasting and was a commentator with WLIB-AM radio.
Throughout her journalism career, she has written, edited, and developed stories for major national and international publications; as well as conducted meetings with CEO’s of Fortune 500 companies. She has interviewed key people ranging from former New Jersey governor, Christine Todd Whitman to fellow journalist former Fox 5 anchorwoman Carol Martin. Her byline credits include: The New York Times, The Village Voice and Black Enterprise Magazine among others. .
Having been born in Brooklyn where there exists a large immigrant community gave Ms. Antenor a unique perspective to provide commentary on WLIB regarding social issues facing immigrants in the tri-state metropolitan area. She also served as a co-creator and co-host on WLIB with a weekly radio call-in talk show entitled L’Ecole Sans Mur (School Without Walls.) This program focused on public activists including political, economic and social issues facing immigrants in the community. Mildred’s other radio show topics include:
- Education in the black community, is it valued or devalued?
- Domestic violence against women, what are the causes of it?
- Abortion rights for women, when does life begin?
Her reports on WLIB, broadcast to over 1 million listeners in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area.
In addition, Ms. Antenor is a university professor calling on her expertise in print and broadcast journalism to educate college students in the nuance of the written and spoken word. She is known for her ability to connect with her students and is also known for generating thought-provoking substantive discussions in her classroom. She trains her students to think critically outside of the box. .
Recently, Ms. Antenor was commissioned to write a script for New Jersey City University’s cooperative education program. A movie was produced from that manuscript. .
Mildred is a graduate of St. John’s University, holding a bachelor’s degree in communication arts and a master’s degree in liberal studies from Rutgers University. She holds memberships with New York Women in Communications, the MATRIX awards development group and is a board member and mentor with the Sandra and Glenn D. Cunningham Foundation. She also speaks French. .
Ms. Antenor’s unique combination of journalism, broadcasting and academics position her for a challenging role as an analyst and commentator on the perplexing issues in our society.
