Program Highlights

Press Briefings

In 2006, we expanded opportunities for our women experts to be heard by aggressively cultivating and briefing senior producers and bookers at the nation’s major news outlets. Those outlets have included ABC’s Good Morning America; NBC’s Nightly News, Weekend News, and the Today Show; MSNBC; and in 2007, CNN’s Central Booking Unit, which oversees placements for all 24-hour news segments, including CNN International, Newsroom, Dayside, Headline News, and Weekends; CNN's Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.

Media Trainings

On an ongoing basis, SheSource.org provides media training for our experts. While we have located and vetted high caliber women experts in many fields, they may request training to make the best possible use of their expertise in media situations. To meet this need, SheSource.org provides on-camera media training led by Fenton Communications staff and Op-ed Writing seminars with expert Catherine Orenstein. These modules help experts solidify their messages while building confidence and authority. In 2008, we made our first foray into the blogosphere, hosting a blogging training led by expert Morra Aarons-Mele. This training gave women a sense of the blogosphere's landscape and concrete steps for moving forward to begin blogging themselves. To view the presentation, click here.

Networking Receptions

SheSource.org hosted its first networking reception for experts and members of the media at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, May 8th, 2006. There were nearly 50 SheSource.org experts in attendance inspiring each other and trading business cards with “Meet the Press,” “NewsHour with Jim Lehrer,” The Washington Post, Associated Press, LA Times, Al Jazeera and other reputable outlets. SheSource experts Daisy Kahn and Suzanne Spaulding were featured speakers. We have since partnered with Women in International Security to host similar receptions in New York and Boston.

Seen and Heard: The Impact of Women in the 2006 Elections

SheSource.org hosts regular events to engage and connect the media with our experts. Recently, top political and media experts came together for Seen and Heard: The Impact of Women in the 2006 Elections on Tuesday, September 19th in New York City to discuss the ability of women to lead and run for political office in the 2006 elections and beyond. The event was hosted by New York Women in Communications Incorporated (WICI) and SheSource.org.  Journalists and communications experts gathered to hear a lively discussion with moderator Marie Wilson (President, The White House Project) and panelists Myrna Blyth (Commissioner, White House Fellows Association), Gigi Georges (Former State Director, Hillary Rodham Clinton), and Rita Nissan (Political Reporter, NY1).  Watch part of the discussion by clicking here.
